NRCSA Center: Complete Immersion Homestudy - Lisbon, Portugal

About the NRCSA Center

Private one-on-one tutor foreign language classes are provided by your teacher at your lodging. Teachers are highly trained professionals with years of experience in the teaching of their language to foreigners.

Lodging is in the homestays of native speakers with all meals provided. Only the target language is spoken in the homestay. Residences are typically outside of heavily touristed areas, in neighborhoods where the target language predominates.

About Lisbon

Lisbon, with its vintage wooden trams and Art Nouveau cafes, expresses a low-key pace that makes this capital city one of the most amiable and gracious in the world. The city's populace, which includes large communities of Africans and Asians and numbers around 1 million total, suggests Lisbon's importance as a port-of-call for citizens from around world. In every building (and sometimes on the outside) are impressive blue and white mosaics that have made Lisbon famous. Because of successive and calamitous earthquakes during the seventeen hundreds, the worst of which occurred in 1755 and took the lives of 40,000 , Lisbon's architecture is predominantly from the late 18th century, producing an elegant landscape that is more than pleasing to the modern eye. One monument that managed to survive the devastation is the Monastery of Jerónimos, begun in 1502 and exhibiting an extravagance of ornamentation that is purely Portuguese.
