Program & Admission Information - Stuttgart, Germany  


 

Programs

The German courses help students to master the German language systematically, covering all important areas:

  •   Speech improvement
  •   Understanding spoken German
  •   Writing accurately
  •   Understanding written German

All language classes are 45 minutes in duration. Six levels of instruction are offered: Beginners, Elementary levels I / II, Intermediate Levels I / II, Advanced.

Lessons take place in the morning or in the afternoon:

Morning classes: Monday 10:00 to 13:30 and Tuesday to Friday 9:00 to 12:30
Afternoon classes: Monday to Thursday 14:00 to 17:30, Friday 13:30 to 17:00.

Standard Course Group 20 hours per week. The Standard courses comprise 20 lessons per week in a small group setting of 5 - 10 students maximum. Courses for beginners usually start every 6-8 weeks. Those with previous knowledge do a placement test and join a suitable course any Monday. Courses last from 2 to 50 weeks.

Intensive Course Group/Tutor 30 hours per week. The Intensive course combines the Standard group course with 10 additional hours per week of one-on-one tutorial. The individual lessons usually consist of a recapitulation and reinforcement of the morning lessons, but often students have special requests, such as Goethe Institute or PNDS exam preparation, or they might want to customize their program during these tutorials by selecting from the following:
  •   Business German Phonetics
  •   Vocabulary. Expansion Specialized Vocabulary.

Language & Culture Course Summer Only During the summer months, their are Language & Culture courses available starting on fixed dates. These courses consist of lessons in the mornings and a guided activity program in the afternoons. At weekends, various excursions are on offer to the Black Forest, to festivals and sports events, to beautiful medieval towns and to the outstanding countryside around Stuttgart.

The courses last from 2 to 10 weeks, and are conducted in small groups of between 5 and 10 students. Levels range from absolute beginners to upper intermediate. Extra individual tuition can be added upon request and at additional cost. The NRCSA Centers qualified and experienced teachers conduct classes in a relaxed but productive atmosphere, introducing real-life German in realistic situations.


 

Admissions & Academic Credit

Students age 18 years and older are welcomed regardless of educational background, occupation or nationality. No previous knowledge of German is required except where otherwise indicated.

Students desiring credit for their study should contact their home school or request the NRCSA Credit Fact Sheet. Generally, U.S. universities consider 15 hours of study to be equal to 1 semester credit.

Certificates & Exams

A certificate will be issued to students provided he/she has attended the course regularly. The certificate details the level the student has reached through the end of study.

Preparation for the following exams is offered and is at additional cost:

1. German University Entrance Examination PNDS
2. Goethe Institute Exam
