About the NRCSA Center

The main purpose of the program is to provide intensive individualized language instruction to students from all walks of life. The facilities include 20 classrooms, a small library with books in English and Spanish, a cafeteria, serving light breakfast foods and rich Mexican delights, a clean swimming pool, extensive tropical gardens, a ping-pong table, and volleyball and racquetball courts. The ample grounds offer plenty of comfortable spaces to study or relax.

Maximum enrollment is 50 students, and the average group size is 2-3 students per teacher (maximum 5:1). The small classes enable teachers to give individual attention to each student. The staff strives to create and maintain a comfortable atmosphere, and encourages spontaneous conversational exchange and productive social activities.

Teachers are enthusiastic and thoroughly trained. The teachers all have varying fields of specialty, including: political science, art, history, education and archeology, among others. Each staff member brings with them their individual talents and interests. This breeds the creation of staff sponsored activities, such as: tours, conferences, and lectures. All instructors must undergo a continuous intensive training program.

About Cuernavaca

Students attending the program are generally professionals, and are dedicated to learning Spanish by actively participating in the program. Consequently the program is geared towards the more serious and motivated students whose need to acquire Spanish is acute. The following services are at the disposal of students: fax machine, mail service, sale of Mexican stamps, telephones (including long-distance), local connections for laptop computers with personal e-mail accounts, Internet access, laundry service, money-changing, airport shuttle, exposure to traditional Mexican music, opportunity to play a variety of sports, home stay with a Mexican family, and an orientation to Mexican culture.

Cuernavaca, better known as "The City of Eternal Spring." is the capital of the state of Morelos. It stretches across a beautiful green valley and, at about 4,950 feet above sea level, enjoys a lovely average year-round temperature of 70 to 80 degrees. The state is also known for being the birthplace of Emiliano Zapata, beloved hero of the Mexican Revolution. Today in Morelos, one still encounters the progressive spirit that he inspired here, making the city a center that hosts a myriad of activists, writers, musicians, and a growing environmental movement. Cuernavaca and the surrounding area, in addition, boast impressive biodiversity, dramatic mountains, abundant and colorful vegetation, and striking examples of colonial architecture. Furthermore, the presence of indigenous peoples, primarily Nahuatl-speaking, enriches the cultural landscape and serves as testimony to Mexico's great plurality.
