Programs

The teaching of functional language skills, with an action-oriented methodology, is at the heart of our teaching philosophy. Students will learn the skills needed to communicate in real life situations. Exercises to improve fluency and accuracy are combined with communicative, and small-group activities.

Our main objective is to develop an individual's learning strategies. This enables the students to transfer communication skills that they have already mastered in their native language to the new language. Verbal communication is a priority: learning to listen and understand, to express oneself correctly and with good pronunciation.

The final objective is to raise students' language level to an efficient standard of communication. This requires not only a perfect command of the language but also a profound understanding of the cultural context.

A placement test to is given to students before their first class to ensure that they are in the appropriate level for their current language levels. Teachers analyze the results of placement tests and adapted a plan of instruction for each class and student.

Students need two components to achieve success in language learning:

By communicating in an authentic and communicative situation and by:

Listening using audio-visual materials, taped listening exercises, film extracts, television and radio programs, songs, etc.

Speaking through:

* French summer courses.
* Meetings, excursions and exploration.
* Theater workshop: drama exercises and improvisations to make speaking easier and overcome inhibitions.
* Work on pronunciation, gestures and fluency.

Reading understanding and analyzing authentic documents, such as newspaper articles, professional texts, administrative forms and literary extracts, etc.

Writing varied writing activities with a distinct communicative aim leading to an enriched knowledge of the language.

Grammar is taught through language games and various exercises during these moments of communication.

Exclusive: To put an end to the fear of speaking,we bring you the theater workshop!

Run by an actress aided by communication specialists drama exercises and improvisation help to overcome inhibitions and to improve oral expression by stressing gesture and intonation.
